La Spezia to Nice

Must go in september from La Spezia to Nice. Any commentos on easiest option? Open to any kind of transportation.
Easiest in this case means few, if any , change of trains or from train to airplane.

Thanks in advance

There are 10 daily train connections, all of them with train changes at Genoa and Ventimiglia. Journey time about 6 hrs. Fare: 46 EUR/pax for IC trains, much less for Regionali.

Neckverd: thanks for your repply! Do you think it could be a good idea drive La Spezia to Ventimiglia and then take the train Ventimiglia to Nice? Thanks un advance.

Will you have a car already? What is the drop off fee? Personally, I find the train more relaxing.

I haven't been to the Genoa stations, but the one at Ventimiglia is small and easy.

If you take the 9:50 departure from La Spezia you will change at Genova Brignole, not the main Genoa station, and it only has nine platforms. That gets you better trains for the Italian legs, too. On the other hand, you'd only have ten minutes in Genoa and Italian trains are notorious for running late. You'll have to weigh the chance of missing the connection in Genoa against the length of the wait in Ventimiglia. See bahn.de for the schedules.

Thanks Thursdaysd! I think the group will opt for renting two cars, we are six adults, driving to Ventimiglia and taking a train there for a short ride to Nice. Any further comments will be welcome of course
