I entered Krakow in the search box, as I was looking for my spouse's post of 10 months ago, which named a good hotel whose name I do not recall.
But I could not get to it, because there were 50 posts -- several about Krakow hotels -- since November alone.
You will get the broadest range of advice -- and get it fastest -- if you do a search

Hi,
I would recommend Pension Trecius. I read many great reviews on that pension and decided to book with them for next summer. They offer great location and fabulous deals.

we stayed at the hotel polonia and really enjoyed its location, old world elderly staff and spacious room, modern bathroom.
it is VERY reasonable. we did not have breakfast there. tried a new place everyday.. old town starts just across the street. we visited at least 8 hotels with a polish friend before taking this one on.
tedgale,, if you search your own posts, or the name your wife used, and then put in krakow.. perhaps you will find it??

lincasanova: Thanks for the tip. As you know, many on this forum find the Fodor's search function rather unsatisfactory -- any suggestions for improved results are most welcome.
Meanwhile, I will tell the person to whom I am legally married -- who is not, however, my wife -- that his interesting report is not lost forever....

Hi Larry,
You will have to let me know what you thought of the place when you return.
Like I said, I've only read/heard good things about Trecius so I'm really excited.
Did you decide on their breakfast or are you going to be on your own for breakfast?

I've been to Krakow several times, and I stayed at Hotel Europeskji (sp?), right on the edge of the old town, within a minute of the train station, and I believe its the oldest continuosly operating hotel in the city = lots of character.

Caroline1,
I'll post a review when I return.
Thanks for reminding me to reserve our breakfast. We'll try it for morning one and then see.
thit cho,
Europejski looked and sounded very cool. Who knows if I'll ever go back to Krakow. If it were feasible I'd try a new hotel every night.
FWIW, I now need to find transportation to Budapest, plus a hotel there. If anyone has ideas, fire away.
Thank you all.
