Kilkenny to Dublin airport
On a Thursday in May what would you allow timewise to drive from B&B in Kilkenny to Dublin airport where you would return rental car prior to boarding your flight? Or is that something you would not recommend, but that we should we stay closer to Dublin?

It depends, of course, what time your flight IS -- but if it is before NOON, I would personally feel that Kilkenny was a BIT too far away.
You'll want to be AT the airport about 2 or 3 hours BEFORE departure -- particularly if you have a Rental car to return.
Some companies (Dan Dooley is ONE) have off-airport depots where the car is returned and then they provide a shuttle bus TO the airport. That adds additional time, as well, though.

We did not think it worth the risk - spent our last night in a seaside village called Rush. It's on the R128 just off the M1 North of Dublin. Distance from the airport in time was about 30/45 minutes. I have seen other Fodorites mention Swords which is even closer still.
