Just got back

We just returned from a 19 day trip through Turkey with Grand Circle Travel. The trip was a great as everyone says about Turkey. The only tip I want to add, for now, is about restaurants in Istanbul. If you're into seafood, there is a "Fish Bazaar" section at Kumkapi. It's about a $4 cab ride from the Spice Bazaar, but easily reachable from anywhere in town. It's like a pedestrian mall, except is has NOTHING but seafood restaurants. About 45 of them. The food and ambiance are terrific. Be prepared to ward off restaurant owners ready to pull you into their places. They are as persistant as every other merchant in town, but it's part of the experience. The prices are moderate to high, but check the prices on the menu inside to see that they are not higher than those posted on the outside. The night we were there the restaurant we went to had Gypsy musicians. Sorry, we don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it is the first one in on the right hand side. They have a roaring fireplace that can be seen from the street. Make sure you walk the whole street before you make your choice. It's a trip-enhancing experience.

Dear Marko,

Nevizade, inside the fish market at Beyoglu is the best place for fish, mezes and price..It is also a pedestrian mall very smiliar to Kumkapi but with better prices and more crowded..I recommend 'Boncuk'restaurant there.

Berman, Kusadasi, Bodrum, Urgup and Istanbul, I need two more expensive places, that may be a bit romantic to take my lovely wife too !! The other places we will be taking the kids (and not letting them eat Macca's !)

Dear Lovebird,

What was the weather like when you were in
Turkey in October? We will be there Sept.
24 until Oct. 14. Do you have any clothing suggestions for women? We also will be traveling with GCT. How many travelers were in your group? How did that work out?

Thanks!
