Turkish beaded scarves
We are planning a trip to Turkey this fall, and one of the most exciting aspects of the trip for my wife is finding more beaded scarves like the one she bought years ago at a shop at or near the Spice Market. We posted photos of it on the web at http://picasaweb.google.com/LonnieLebin/TurkishScarf
(you may have to cut and paste this link into your browser if clicking on it doesn't work). It is cotton, not silk. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find such scarves?

gtrotter: Checked out the pictures and it gave me another idea for gifts for friends. We will be in Istanbul on 9/13-14, and then going by tour to Bursa, Ankara, Cappadocia, etc. Spice Market is on our list of places to visit. Ciao!! mhm

Murat,
Murat -- That's nice of you, but my wife will probably get more pleasure out of shopping for them herself as long as they are relatively easy to find. We are, in fact, going to Cappadocia as well. Are these scarves from Cappadocia or another particular area of Turkey, or are they commonly found throughout Turkey?
Mercy -- Yes, they make great gifts, and we plan to buy a number of them.

Hi Gtrotter,
Those scarves called "tulbent" and sometimes "Yasmak" or "Bas Ortusu with Oya".... Oya is the work around usually with the beads called Boncuk.
Generally speaking, they are easy to find everywhere, traditional and yes the intricacy might be different from region to region only.
Cheers,
Murat
