Chelsea are you by any remote chance going to Copenhagen to embark on a certain cruise which ends in Stockholm a week later?

As to hotels in Stockholm, you might be interested in the Hotel Rival.

We too are going June 2007 from the Mid-West (ORD or STL) to Germany and back from Italy. Prices have been hovering in the range of $800-$1000. If I move our trip to last week of May and return anytime in June for the same itinerary, I get a price of $695 including taxes. Unfortunately it seems we can't do that, so back to monitoring airfares!

Generally speaking, RBnwdln, many airlines begin advertising their summer fares to Europe in mid-January, after the New Years holiday.

Also, in many instances the high season fares are for June 1 forward. Being able to depart the U.S. in late May (Memorial Day weekend or so) is usually a bit cheaper.

Enjoy your travels!

Easywalker,
I believe that the lowest fares for last summer were found the previous fall as reported by those on this forum. I monitored fares from late October on and the fares went up and up! Finally jumped at an Aer Lingus fare in late February that I had previously rejected because of its long layover in Dublin. The prevailing advice last year was the same as yours, but I didn't find it to be true last winter. Prices stayed high. Thanks, anyway!

We followed fares through the fall and on into late spring--for the cities we were tracking fares rose and fell and the best prices for June that we saw were in April.

We're going to Paris in April and are waiting until Nov/Dec to book our flights. Two years ago it cost us $680 CDN after taxes flying out of Seattle (we live in Vancouver). This year so far the price is about $1100 from either Vancouver or Seattle. I know we'll never see $680 again but I am hoping for less than $1000.
