Jeans for teens

We'll be traveling to London, Paris and Brussels this summer. Are jeans considered acceptable wear for teens for day time touring? If not, any suggestions? Thanks.

As long as they are clean fit well. You can still look put together in jeans with a neat top.

I'm a little older and normally feel more comfortable in casual (dockers) pants.

You may want to consider the weather. Too hot and you won't be comfortable.

Melissa,

Jeans are definitly acceptable; but it can get very hot in Paris in the summer. I was there in the beginning of June and thought I was going to melt in my jeans - and I am from Florida. I would make sure you pack either shorts or lighter weight pants also.
Have fun!
Aileen

Young women in Italy all seemed to be wearing black or white or other solid color capris in fabrics that appeared to include lycra...If you have the right slim shape for these, go for it.

Sure - jeans are acceptable. But not very comfortable in the summer - especially in Paris. In london and Paris (haven't been to Brussels for about 10 years so can't comment on that) kids tend to be trendier than at the local US mall. Girls wear fewer jeans and more skirts - both very short and long. Plus lots of capris. Boys tend to either punk in dark or startling colors or what I would call preppy or classic.

Melissa:

This question was beat to death a few months ago but, I will say part of what I said then. Jeans are SO in! The baggier the better contrary to what has been posted.
EXAMPLE: Fitted jeans today mean Britteanny Speeeaars ( spelled wrong intentionally). You make the choice?

Go to any teen web site, ask your teens, and get the REAL opinion about the above fitted jean gal...

As a mom of a teen...will your teen actually LET you still dress them? If so, you just gotta tell me how that occurs.

My Best
Oaktown

What is this jean obsession that you have in the USA?
I would suggest that you bring a pair of marble washed jeans with a tapered leg, I would recommend that you wear these with a pair of white stilletto heals Oh! and don,t forget the baseball cap and Lairy T shirt!!

Have recently returned from France and Italy (inc. Paris, Florence and Rome) with my 4 teenagers. As for clothing, anything goes - we saw all types of dress on teens. My boys wore cargo shorts mostly (weather was HOT) my girls were mostly in capris (jean or khaki) and shorts, little t-shirts and tank tops. All brought jeans and wore them at times. We saw alot of girls in skirts - short and long, the thin clingy type with tank tops and sandles - looked very cute and comfortable (made me want to be young and thin again!)

Thanks for the responses everyone. My teen actually took your advice and has been shopping for capris. Amazing how much better suggestions sound to young ears when they come from perfect strangers, isn't it? Thanks again.
