Pal, you should be ashamed to post a link to that absolutely obscene website!

And to drag children into it!

You are the one who is primitive.

That is odd because I do not have a subscription to the WSJ. So below is the lead story from Tuesday's NY Times. It too is about the rampant fear among Jews in France.

During the summer I wrote a good friend who has many contacts in the US among French diplomats regarding the fear of Jews in France and asked if he can appeal to them. He in turn wrote a friend of his in Paris who is Jewish who said Jews would leave France, but since most are middle class and their families have been there a long time, it is not easy.

Many on these boards were quite nasty about these claims. Now it is gaining currency in the mainstream media. The articles indicate that the atmosphere in France is the worst since the Nazis.

The representative of a large umbrella organization of french jews berated Binyamin Netanyahu for constantly playing the aliyah card, stating that the energy of the israeli government might be better directed at ensuring the safety of jews in europe instead of constantly imploring them to emigrate to Israel.

Tel Aviv has now a good french language infrastructure, and fine french bakeries and cafes. And I know a couple of Tel Aviv inhabitants with a french background who now travel back and forth between Paris and Tel Aviv, keeping their Paris apartments and also establishing themselves in Tel Aviv (not Israel, there's a difference)

Lots of french language real estate advertising recently.

Still, I think there's less substance to a "french aliyah" than the Israeli government would like.
I also think that the "safety of jews in Europe" is a phenomenon used to bash muslims some more: the position of european jews is sometimes used quite cynically by certain political operators to make something clear to the muslim community. I think this makes a jewish existence in europe more precarious in the long term than terrorist attacks do.

In the Netherlands, Geert Wilders' freedom party likes to show its concern with the safety of jews. Yet the one measure that would really endanger jewish life in The Netherlands, a prohibition on kosher meat and a ban on circumcision is supported by them in parliament, and they're likely to become the largest faction in parliament at the next elections.
