Jadrolinija Schedule

I guess my wife and I need to go to grad school to figure out the Jadrolinija schedule, because our undergrad degrees aren't sufficient. We have looked at the schedule for the coastal lines, the international lines, and the local lines and we've used the "search" method of determining dates. Yet we can't find the definitive information we need. Hopefully someone can help.

We can't figure out which schedule is clearly to Hvar Town rather than Stari Grad. We can't figure out which schedule is clearly for the catamaran. And we have no idea what the numbers mean at the top of each column in the schedule (1, 5, 5a). We won't be using a car.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi MB,

I've been doing research on this very topic for my trip in September and have been pouring over the Jadroliniga website for the last few months off and on.

Here is what I have determined.
The numbers at the top of the columns represent the days of the week, 1=Monday, 2=Tuesday and so on.

It gets a bit tricky with the ferry to Hvar (which I need to get to also). I have found out that the ferries do not stop in Hvar town, but only in Stari Grad and then there are buses available to Hvar Town from Stari Grad.

From what I have found out Jadrolinija does not run the high speed catamaran, only the ferry so that is why you are having trouble finding that schedule. The name of the catamaran that I found is the Catamaran KRILO, which I found through a Google search, this catamaran's final desintation is Korcula so I found the Korcula website that had the KRILO's schedule from 2005. The catamaran apparently leaves Split around 5pm and stops in Hvar (arrives about 6pm) and then continues on to Korcula. But this was the summer 2005 timetable, so I don't know if or when it may change.

Also the Jadrolinija website has a link where you can send a message (in English) and get a reply (in English). I posted a question to them and got a reply in about a day or 2.

All this information is based on ferry/catamaran departures from Split. Hope this information is helpful to you!

Happy Travels!

It looked pretty simple to me. I put in some hypotheticals and got

From port at to port at

RIJEKA 27.03.2006 18:00
SPLIT 28.03.2006 06:30
SPLIT 28.03.2006 07:00
STARI GRAD (HVAR) 28.03.2006 08:40
STARI GRAD (HVAR) 28.03.2006 09:00
KORČULA 28.03.2006 12:40
KORČULA 28.03.2006 13:00
DUBROVNIK 28.03.2006 16:15

The dates are in the European system dd/mm/yyyy and time on the 24 hour clock.

Thanks, LCI! Very helpful!

Using your information, I was able to come up with some details that I'm happy to pass along to others.

There are apparently two catamarans -- the Krilo and the Mala Lara. The Krilo will be replaced at the end of March by the Krilo Express, a faster boat that carries more passengers. I haven't seen a revised timetable that reflects the faster capability, if indeed the schedule will be affected.

The 2005 schedule (not 2006!) can be seen at http://www.korculainfo.com/ferries/c...an-korcula.htm

I saw the same time table at an all-purpose website with general information. The year wasn't specified, so maybe the schedule remains consistent from year to year. Maybe not.

The SEM Marina Travel Agency in Split sells tickets. Contact information is at http://www.sem-marina.hr/eng/mail/kontakt.asp

I'm going to email them. I'll post my results once I hear from them.

Hopscotch,

Thanks for the information but it only duplicates the stuff I had come up with. You probably didn't notice that the schedule only goes to September 11. As recently as two weeks ago, there was no summer schedule available through the search engine. For those like me who might be traveling in late September and who compulsively make travel plans at least six months in advance, the inability to obtain needed dates leaves us in serious travel-planning withdrawal.

I found their search method not very good if you're trying to figure ferry times 6 months from now.

In September I have taken a slow ferry to Hvar Grad and I have take a catamaran to Hvar Grad - both leaving from Split.

Right now I'm not able to log on to their web site.

Going through last year's file - I have schedules for a catamaran going from Split to Bol to Jelsa and a catamaran going from Split to Hvar to Vela Luka to Lastovo.

There are catamarans, ferries and car ferries - there should be an icon at the top of the pdf.

When i can logo on to their we site I'll take a look - when are you going?

CP,

Thanks for adding to the information!

You asked when I'm going. The only thing I know right now is that it will be about ten days in September (including traveling to and from Croatia). The precise dates will be determined once I know airline and catamaran schedules.

My thinking right now is that I want to take a catamaran to Hvar Town, rather than to Stari Grad. That's because I plan on staying overnight in Hvar Town at least one night. But I'm open minded if someone gives me reason to think I'm placing too much emphasis on the need to go straight to Hvar Town.

The drive from Stari Grad to Hvar is really stunning and a wonderful introduction to the town. When we arrived in Stari Grad, there was no bus but a few of us shared a taxi van and it was reasonable.

Sharing a taxi-van for the drive to Hvar town sounds like a good idea. I took the bus, which was hot and packed, and I definitely did not enjoy the drive!

if it's your first time to Hvar stay in Hvar town (Hvar Grad) - I wanted to stay in Stari Grad this past September but a good friend decided to join me at the last minute and being that it was his first time I thought a place with a bit more buzz would be preferable/desirable. Stari Grad is quieter - less swish.

Looking at the last year's sched - which I think was good till mid September there was a catamaran leaving Split every day of the week at 3 pm, arriving in Hvar Grad at 3:50. There was also a catamaran leaving Split at 11:30 am, arriving in Hvar Grad at 12:30 pm.

Haven't checked Jadrolinija website yet - though it's probably still a bit early for summer scheds to be posted.

MB...

Thanks for the information on the travel agency that sells the catamaran tickets. I will check it out. With my arrival time into Split still up in the air (depends on if the train arrives on time!), I'm not sure I will make the catamaran, but I like to explore all my options.

I've booked an apartment in Hvar town through Hvar-travel.com there was a 10 euro booking fee, but the apartment that I chose was exactly what I needed (size and location wise) and being the "detail oriented" travel junkie I am I wanted to have accommodations booked before arriving in Hvar.

I will be in Hvar in mid-September maybe our paths will cross there!

Carta,

About those catamarans leaving Split at 11:30am and 3:00pm, what was the company? What were the return times?

Thanks, Carta! I was wondering if I had lost my mind by thinking that Jadrolinija uses a catamaran.

Last year I took a 1 hour catamaran from Hvar (not starigrad) to Split on September 14th, tickets bought at the Jadrolinja ticket office in Split.

Don't give up!

Bad news: I emailed the SEM travel agency two weeks ago asking about their catamaran schedule between Hvar Town and Split. No response.

Good news: Jadrolinija now has their summer schedule online (June thru September), including the catamaran schedule.

Catamaran Schedule between Split and Hvar Town: http://www.jadrolinija.hr/pdfs/UBLI-...%209604.en.pdf

Car Ferry Schedule between Split and Hvar Town: http://www.jadrolinija.hr/pdfs/lasto...t%20604.en.pdf Notice that cars do not load or unload at Hvar.

Car Ferry Schedule between Split and Stari Grad: http://www.jadrolinija.hr/pdfs/split...d%20635.en.pdf

Glad this issue was posted. So, if we take the car ferry back to Split from StariGrad at 11 am, what time do we arrive in Split? Also, how far from the ferry dock is the bus station that will take us to Dubrovnik as we are returning the car in Split?

Look at the time that it takes from Split. 50 minute rides are the Catarmans, while the 2 hour trips are the ferries. Jadrolinija does list catarmans.

Syl - the bus station is adjacent to where the ferries dock. Not sure where you're dropping off your car though.
