It's Vienna time
Hello ,
4th time in Vienna, this time in June (3 times were in the winter), so I know the place, been to the big museums, Belvedere and Schonbrunn. Looking for new ideas, even a day trip outside Vienna.
I'm interested in the Lichtenstein Palace. The picturea look fascinating, the kind of art I like very much. There are two places: the City Palace and the Garden Palace and I don't really understand the difference and there is a differnce in price. Also it's a guided tour in german which I don't understand buth there is an english audio guide. Has anyone who's not german speaking took this tour and can recomand it?
Thanks for all tip

The Liechtenstein City Palace is in the Inner Stadt; the upper levels are the private residence so one can only tour a portion of the palace. The Liechtenstein Garden Palace is in the Ninth District (easily reachable by public transportation); and again, one can only tour certain areas. Why the prices are different I do not know; perhaps maintenance has something to do with it.
I have taken both tours in German (with the audio guide) and in English (private group). The House of Liechtenstein is my favorite. Wanting importance but not being royal, they did the next best thing: they bought their way into favor of the Holy Roman Empire. Plus, they have a wonderful art collection. If I had to choose just one it would be the Garden Palace (for the art).
