My N. Italy itinerary for N. Italy and Switzeralnd is as follows:
Arrive: Milan
Depart: Zurich

Bellagio (3 nghts)
Wengen (3 nghts-Alpenrose)
Luzern (2 nights-Wilden-Mann?)

My biggest concern is accomodations for Bellagio in August. I was thinking of the Hotel Florence, but they don't have air conditioning. My husband will flip if it is boiling hot (defined as temps of >90 degrees). Should I just forgo this hotel and try the Hotel du Lac which doesn't seem to have nearly as good reviews on Trip Advisor?

Try the Belvedere in Bellagio.

The Wilden-Mann in Luzern is a great hotel. Wonderful breakfast buffet and excellent service.

Nice trip--good hotels. I agree about the Belevedere, but if you are driving I would stay in Menaggio.

We also liked the Belvedere in Bellagio, and we drove. They were great with the car, and it was easy to find.

A question about the staying at the Belvedere. I understand it is up on the hill. Is it a problem getting a taxi from the ferry station to the hotel?

It shouldn't be... There is usually a taxi (or two) waiting at the dock area.
