Italy--Planefare
I just found a deal (through hotwire) for $439 a person from Miami to Rome RT from March 1-12. It's the cheapest I've found, but I haven't been searching for round trip (I've been looking at multi-city). Is this a good deal? Should I book it?
Thanks!

If anyone is interested, just got $516 from SFO to FCO on March 29 with return April 22. We have to change planes at Jfk going and O'Hare coming back. Delta also showed comparable fares.
One month later for same route shows $880.

I'd say take it. I searched nearly all winter last year and the best I could get Mia to Fco was $395 US taxes included and I spent at least 40 to 50 hours watching and waiting. I could have spent my time more productively but maybe not more fun.

That sounds like a pretty good fare to me. Have you tried calling Lufthansa? They were having a fare sale for Europe - I think they extended it through the end of October for travel before April 4 (?). Good prices from the East Coast.
I was quoted a great fare for mio marito e io - $749.34 (taxes incl., fly from the west coast to VCE [through FRA] and return from FLR [also through FRA]).
Unfortunately, they made a mistake because they gave us the discounted fare and the "Companion Flies Free" promotion (which, apparently, they should not have combined) and asked us to pay the additional fare of about $440. Long story short (too late?) I wrote a letter after I got nowhere with the people on the phone and just got a call yesterday saying they will honor the original fare! What a deal!

I just booked a multiple city trip last week on Northwest Airlines for a trip of 22 days in December. I am flying Pittsburgh to Rome and return via Paris for $457.93 complete with tax etc. If I had bought one day sooner I could have got it for $418. I would say take the $439 without delay. You don't say what city you want to return from but maybe give Northwest a try.
