Italy at Easter

I am in the very early stages of planning a trip to Italy in March 2005. Just found out the last couple of days of the trip will be Good Friday through Easter Sunday. Since I don't celebrate Easter, would it be foolish to go at that time? Would it make more sense to leave Venice for the end of the trip to avoid the crowds in Rome for the holiday? Final question, would museums, stores be open on Good Friday in Italy?

Hi mama,

I suggest going the week after Easter. Better weather, air fares still low.

I was in Italy last Easter, most major museums opened on Good Friday, but it was Extremely crowded. Even the week after Easter, it was almost unbearably crowded in Rome.
