Italian Restaurant in Prague

I am going to be in Prague from May 20-22 and wanted to find a good Italian restaurant to eat at the night before my marathon there.

Any suggestions????

Try the Restorante Lascala. It is located very close to the Old Town Square. They serve pasta and pizza. It was very good and very clean. It is not an expensive restaurant. We enjoyed eating there when we were visiting Prague in March 2005. Good luck with the marathon!

The top Italian restaurants in Praha are: Allegro--Four Seasons Hotel; Don Giovanni--Old Town; Divinis--Tynska, Old Town.

TG, I know that Allegro is always on lists of Italian restaurants in Prague, but I don't get that. When I dined there (on 2 occasions) last year, we though the menu eclectic and 'continental' if any word can categorize it. So although I love the restaurant, it didn't seem very Italian to me.

For a less-expensive alternative,
Cafe Metamorphis, in the Ungelt Square behnid the Tyn church, has really excellent pizzas and, some pastas.

We were in Prague a couple of weeks ago and had dinner at Don Giovanni. It was good; not great. That being said, we enjoyed all enjoyed our meals. The service was very good. And the restaurant was packed! But if you are looking to bulk up on pasta you could find less expensive. While not very expensive compared to the New York prices we are used to, this was clearly our most expensive meal in Prague.

I have never dined at any of the restaurants I wrote about above. I was using my Prague restaurant guide SQUARE MEAL. You can access the guide at www.squaremeal.cz. You certainly don't have to eat Italian to find carbs in Prague. You need to eat PANCAKY!!

Indeed I was wondering where you would get a LOW-carb meal in Prague!

Alternative possibility (from my marathoning days): complex carbohydrates at a vegetarian restaurant.

TG and tedgale make excellent points, as usual.
You don't need to turn to only Italian.
Eat one Czech dumpling, it will be your carb allotment for 3 marathons.

There is a restaurant in Prague called KOGO. It has locations in Havelska, Karlovo namesti and Slovensky Dum and the latter has good options for eating outside in the summer. This would be my choice and I've eaten many times at Slovensky Dum purely because a pram can easily be parked outside in the garden.

Try Pizzeria Giovanni in Old town square - there were lines there for lunch - so I ate there for dinner. Excellent food - very cheap!
