Can you tell me more about a five days itineray ? May be suggest one....
I know Spain fairly well, speak Spanish and the matter if fact my ancestors are from the Canarias islands, name Armas,
but I must confess that I am on the ignorant side ....gracias.

Do you know which of the seven islands your ancestors came from? All seven are different, and with only five days it would be nice to concentrate on that specific island.

Winter is high season in the Canaries. Many Europeans go to the Canary Islands to escape the gray and cold weather on mainland Europe. (Yes, the Canaries are European! They are off the coast of Africa, just like the Hawaii are off the coast of Mexico!). The cheapest way to go there is probably by charter flight bought in Britain, Germany, Scandinavia or other countries in northern Europe usually known as high cost countries (same with the Balearics and many Greek islands). The package holiday companies buy hundreds and thousands of beds, so it may be difficult to find a room of your own, even if they are empty.

Hi Graziella, if you want to know something about your ancestors have a look in this page. Your family name is very know around the islands from XV century. http://home.pi.be/~p4u00071/rancel/a...esp.html#armas
Talking about Tenerife in the Fall, don't worry to much about weather. You will find temperatures from 14? till 25?C, you will go to the beach and probably to the National Park most popular of Spain " Las Cañadas del Teide " ( from 1.500 m. to 3.718 m. high ), you will see villas históricas like La Laguna, Garachico, Adeje, La Orotava plenty of historic flavour and amazing volcanic scenerys ( on land and underwatter ). I think 5 days is not time enought because each island has a different beauty and I'm sure you would like to visit Lanzarote and La Gomera.

If you need contact me do it by tenerifealacarta or here, Saludos desde el " Jardín de las Hespérides "
Toño

Thank you all.
I believe my family Armas comes from Tenerife.
My family is a mixture of Irish and Canaria blood.
The O' Shannan family that had three daughters came to Tenerife from Ireland due to religious intolerence( May be they were heading farther away) the girls married three Canarios, and off they went to diffferent American countries. My ancestors went to the River Plate.
Thnk you again for interest, when the time is right I will post again for more help.
Thank you Antonio for the background inf. on the Armas. Hasta pronto.
