Is water in Greece choppy in earlyJuly?

Planning a cruise to Greece and Turkey over July 4th and heard the water might be choppy. I know it gets worse in August, but wasn't sure about end early July.

"Might be" is all you can count on. There's no seasonal "choppiness" if that's what you're thinking. Sometimes the winds will make the water rough, but most often not in the summer months. Choppiness is also a relative condition. If you're on a large cruise ship your stability in choppy seas won't as much of a comfort factor as when you're on a small local ferry. I don't think you have anything specific to worry about, it's pretty much up to Mother Nature.

Here is a page from Weatherbase showing stats for Rhodes, which shows average winds speeds throughout the year: http://www.weatherbase.com/weather/w...=&units=us. I picked Rhodes because it is near the Turkish coastline. Much of the time the sea is glassy smooth in sheltered areas around the islands. It can get choppy in open seas when the Meltemi is blowing, but nothing to worry about in a cruise ship.
