Stu- Glad you got your passes. Hopefully your passport renewal will not take a long time.

Yeah I renewed like 7-8 months before it expired.

I wasn't traveling anyways and I renewed it in December-January last year, when travel to Europe was very uncertain.

Stu--I renewed our passports this summer and it took twelve weeks. I see that with increased travel, they are now estimating as long as eighteen weeks. Considering the peace of mind it could furnish, you might consider paying the extra for expedited processing.

Yes - we plan on paying the expediting fee. We have 20 weeks to obtain our passports. We were stuck because we had scheduled trips to Europe in May, Sept, & Dec last year and May and Sept this year, and then the upcoming the Dec trip. These trips all had 16-18 weeks between the date we cancelled the trip, and the date for the upcoming trip (which we later had to cancel also). Twenty weeks was the biggest window. I have no idea of what US citizens do who travel internationally frequently and their passport expires "soon".

Glad you got your passes and good luck with the passport. I just returned from Paris and there are testing tents all over town. Perhaps less than there was, but its not problem finding one. We had to wait a couple minutes before we could get our test. We were there at 9:30 on a Friday and I gather lots of people might be leaving Sunday or MOnday. Guy said he didnt now why there were all those people. There is a site that lists all the labs & pharmacies that do the testing. Its in this article https://thetourguy.com/travel-blog/f...test-in-paris/. Have a great trip!

In any case, now that we are plunging into our 5th wave (positive tests rose from 10,000 to 20,000 in just one week -- still low compared to Germany with 50,000), they are definitely checking the passes more. Some restaurants and cafés had gotten tired of doing it, but now the police are coming and doing spot checks. People without the pass get a fine of 135 euros and the owner of the establishment also gets a fine of 135 euros. If the police find an additional violation on the next check, the place gets shut down for a period of time (usually at least one month). On the news yesterday, they were shoinwg this happening in Marseille, and the violators were not happy at all.

Glad to hear they are being vigilant with this. Now they need to teach the people how to wear masks properly --- way too many below the nose wearers!

Now that we have our Passe Sanitaires, do we need our CDC cards for anything???? US or France airports? Do we need to use the originals or copies? Of course, it doesn't hurt to take them - but the originals are on 8 1/2X11 cardboard. Much larger than our passports. And we have 4 of them plus 2 smaller booster cards. Stashed in our luggage is OK, but walking around on the streets my wife would need to carry a much larger purse so that the originals are not folded.

Our CDC cards are not that large so we took them with us, just in case. We also have photos of them on our iPhones. One place in Paris couldn't get the passe to work when he clicked on either of ours. In the end he just moved on.

You can get plastic card holders on Amazon. Keeps them from being folded and the holder is harder to lose.

I don't think you'll need your CDC cards IN France but they may be helpful to have in the US or with your airline. Did you get your boosters before you applied for the PS? If not, carrying evidence of the booster into December might also help. I'm a total Nervous Nelly when it comes to these things. Even though I keep our travel file with all the reservations and passport info on Google Docs, I still print almost everything and take it with me.

""You can get plastic card holders on Amazon.""

But our "card" is 8 1/2" X 11". The card "info" section is only 6" X 3 1/2" and there is a LOT # sticker on the 8 1/2 X 11 card and at different locations outside the "info" section on each of the 4 cards. There are things printed on the back also. Our booster card is 3" X 4" with the LOT number written on the card. This latter card would be no problem to carry around. But 4 much larger cards are not going to be easy to carry in my wife's purse - without bending. If I attempt to "cut & past" from the large card, I imagine someone reading it would think it is a forgery.

"I don't think you'll need your CDC cards IN France but they may be helpful to have in the US or with your airline.""

This was my thinking. I would carry around our large manila folder with all 4 our originals (plus the smaller booster cards) in my carry-on so they are accessible at the beginning & end of our trip (airports/customs, etc). Then rely on copies of the CDC & our Passe Sanitaire while roaming in Paris. I just would like to hear from someone who needed the CDC card IN Paris and also had the Passe.

"Did you get your boosters before you applied for the PS? If not, carrying evidence of the booster into December might also help""

We return home from Paris on Dec 16 - so I don't think anyone would ask for our booster card. However, I was considering adding this card to my Passe in case it will be required for our late August trip to France. But I'll wait until August to do so - thinking all this Passe stuff will be discontinued by then

Thanks for the help!!

Stu Dudley

In France they prefer NOT to have to look at CDC cards. The French pass sanitaire or any other EU or UK health pass with a QR code is what they want to see.

Also just received the pass sanitaire approval today. I'd applied in September.

I'm just curious -- what state do you live in that gave out such large cards? And a different one for each jab? I thought the CDC card was a standardized form. Apparently not.

The shot was given by San Mateo County - which is the county just south of San Francisco County. Two shots were recorded on 2 cards because they never told us to bring the card from the 1st shot with us when we got the 2nd shot. Otherwise both shots wound have been recorded on 1 card. They got smarter with the booster card.

Thanks! That make sense. A couple friends had that happened and when they got the booster they got it all consolidated on 1 card. But the size of your card is still puzzling! have a great time on your trip.
