Is Staying above Carrer de la Princesa in El Borne better than below it?
Is one area safer or more convenient than the other? Trying to pick an apt and we've found one above Princesa on Carrer St Pere Mita and another a few blocks below it--nearer to the Picasso Museum at Carrer de l'Argenteria, 6. One post I got said they were advised to say above Princesa. any comments? thanks

Thanks, danon -- Are u saying that u prefer the area below Princesa where I considered the Carrer de l'Argenteria one to be, but that Carrer de l'Argenteria is on a very busy St? The reference I made to above and below Princesa is now confusing me!
Google map shows the 2 locations less than 1/2 mile apart, so what diffrentiates the 2 areas? I live in a big city so I understand that sometimes block by block can make a difference.

Yes, sorry I was not clear.
The street is extremely busy - no cars but many restaurants , also all pedestrian traffic to the Church and the 'lower" part of El Born from the other side of Laietana.
The area bellow Princesa is where most of the restaurants, bars and stores are located. It is very lively , trendy, and closer to the Port .
I would stay in the lower part, but most likely not on Argenteria.

p.s.
the area north of Princesa seems a bit less "gentrified".
I don't think it is problematic - Palau is not far, I have been through some of the streets only during the day. Cannot remember the one you are considering staying on.

Thanks 4 your responses, danon. Its been 10 years since we were last in Barcelona and we didn't explore this area back then. I'm slowly learning about the specifics of this area thru everyone's responses and appreciate it.

you are welcome. I visited Barcelona 3 times in the last 3 years.
In March a friend and I stayed in El Born for 5 days.
I also like Eixample close to P. De Gracia and Rambla de Catalunya ( my favorite streets in the city).
I think El Born has become trendy not very long ago so the area north of Princesa has not been gentrified yet ( the new Market Santa Caterina is very nice and worth a visit)
