I got my passport before 1999. A passport is fine until it says it expires (date is on passport). Enjoy your trip! Also -- before you go, make a photocopy or two of your passport and keep it safely, apart from your passport. It is a safeguard incase you lose the original one. I always keep the original in the safety deposit box behind the front reception desk, and only take it out to cash travel checks, and then lock it back up immediately, along with my plane ticket, and the bulk of my money. If you leave it all in the room safe, if the safe gets robbed, the hotel isn't liable for that, as it was in your room. If it's in the locked safety deposit box behind the desk, the hotel IS legally responsible for whatever is in the box. Have fun!!!

I don't know about your passport,
but we are traveling to Belgium,
Poland and maybe into the Ukraine or
Slovakia. I checked with the consulate
from each country and Belgium is
6 mos out, Poland, 3 mos out and
Slovakia 6 mos out and Ukraine takes
a valid passport for the date of
travel. My passport expires on
Feb 8, 2008.

I checked at www.state.gov and it
stated that it has to be renewed
if you were UNDER 16 when it was first
issued. We live in Calif. I just
typed in u\U.S. passports and it brought
up all kinds of info. I think
you are fine.
