I am attempting to purchase my ticket from Paris to Cologne, Germany on SNCF. I first tried Paris to Cologne and a message popped up saying that tickets cannot be purchased before 2 months out. I then typed in Paris and Koln, Germany and the results that popped up were Paris Nord to Koeln (spelled differently than Koln) departing August 19 at 6:55am on a THA and arriving Koeln at 10:50am for 81 euro.

Is Koeln the same Cologne that I am thinking of? If so, why isn't Cologne showing up or Koln? I want to make sure I'm purchasing a ticket to the right city.

Koeln is how you type Köln when you can't use the umlaut (the little dots over the o). Cologne is the English version (like Munich for München). All the same place.

Köln = Koeln = Cologne

München = Muenchen = Munich

e replaces the umlaut

Köln is the proper spelling in German; Koeln is an acceptable substitute. Cologne is the name given to it by the French, who cannot stand anyone saying anything in a language other than French. (Jerks)
