Hi Everyone - I'm considering an inexpensive 6 day package to Prague during the week of Thanksgiving (Go-Today or something similar). Is will be my first trip there...Is it worth it to go to Prague during this time of year? How is the weather? Will it be too freezing to walk around and enjoy the city? Also, I heard many of the main sites close down in November since it is the start of off season. Similar questions on Budapest and Vienna since I am considering a combo deal. Gosh, Laura, I really don't know, but since it isn't Thanksgiving over there I shouldn't think it mattered much. Maybe someone will comment on weather and on as to there actually being any off season. Likely you won't have the crowds of tourists My guess is that it will be chilly, could be like it is November at your home unless you are a Floridian. Surely web sites and guide books will inform you about hours for sites. Those are nice places to visit which we did last June.

The sites that close down I believe are the castles, not in Prague, but in the surrounding area. Prague has tourists and tourism 12 months a year.

I've been there and in Vienna in early March, which was essentially still winter.
A coating of snow, pretty cold temps, though above freezing. I'm not predicting your weather, just saying that I fell in love with Prague and the weather seemed to have affected that not at all.

We did a gate1travel.com "Christmas Markets package" $499.00 the first week of December last year. Yes, it was cold but it was a wonderful, magical trip and we fell in love with Prague. Everything was open. We did a full day walking tour of the city and another out at Terezin. The city was festive and full of tourists despite the cold. Hot chocolate and mulled wine is sold on the street. Just bundle up and enjoy.

IMO it is worth going to Prague at <b>any</b>time of the year. Last time I was there was in late November; was damp and cold but not bone-chilling. Having a down-filled jacket helped. Nothing of great importance was closed down that I noticed.

Don't miss it..and it may even be better despite colder weather since it won't be as tourist-filled as it usually is.

just go. trying to get the ideal weather is almost impossible. we went one easter and had sun, heat and suddenly SNOW, so.. go figure.

if you go prepared clotheswise, you will have no problem.

my main concern would be the hotel location. a friend of mine went on a cheap tour to prague ( from spain) and ended up in a hotel way outside the city.

I saw this trip advertised and thought what a great idea. As I stated in another post my son is in Baghdad and is to come home very soon. I of coarse thought the family could take a nice vacation together and this trip sounded great. Rightly so, I was told to go slow and find a more relaxing and quiet destination. So, St. John's it is. But, you should go. I was there in January one year and it was great fun and the weather was cold, but sunny. We had a great time. Go for it!

You must go... the city is beautiful, very historical. November weather is chilly, but quite pleasant if a sun is out-just make sure you have warm clothes. Let me warn you, the city is NOT inexpensive.

Just make sure you have appropriate clothes, so you are able to walk everywhere and be warm.
