i remember its being very hot in Toulouse when we went there a few years ago - we decided to do a boat trip on the canal as we thought that it would be cooler on the water and it was even hotter!
[I think there is a theme developing here - wherever we go for a short break, it's very hot!]

We don't travel much in the summer. Several years ago, though, we traveled from St. Emilion to Paris in June. I have a vivid memory of walking out of the Monparnasse train station to a blast of hot air. It felt like a furnace. I was so unaccustomed to that kind of heat in Paris, that I felt I might have been in the wrong city.
It's in the high 80's and low 90's in Hawaii. Like that time in Paris, when there is no breeze, those temperatures can be brutal.

Coming home at 3 am from a party in the mountains, I drove by dozens of people hiking up to the Rigi to see the sunrise. They were all sweating and wearing t-shirts and tank tops. At 3 in the morning.
Now that's unusual for Switzerland.
We also had to call the police because a young man was so drunk, he fell asleep in a well-used path and we couldn't get him to wake up. That is less unusual for Switzerland.

It got back up to 32° in Paris today but it is remarkable how the human body can adapt. After 36° a few days ago, I can't claim that it seemed mild, but it was most definitely tolerable.
The important thing is that nighttime temperatures are excellent again (down to about 20°) and that is really the most important element of recovering at night.

We saw that in Maidenhead, only the guy was passed out in the middle of the road -- at a spot with no streetlights. If someone had come around the curb they would have encountered a very squishy speed bump.
We had trouble shifting him so went to the pub and asked for help. Most people shrugged and said, "oh, that's Gareth" but two guys did lend us a hand. We had to half carry, half drag him back to his council home about two blocks away. My husband's back hurt quite a bit the next day.
