Is it possible to get a refund for train tickets?

A few months ago I bought the below train tickets and unfortunately did not check the 'trip insurance' box when I ordered them on-line. Is there any way to get a refund?

August 17: Avignon to Paris on TGV
August 19: Paris Nord to Koln, Germany on TGV
August 21: Koln to Frankfurt Airport: DB

Thank you!!

I think if your tickets are not the PREM (discounted) tickets you can get a refund---but, I may be wrong.

Oops-PREM tickets are for the SNCF trains only not for the DB trains.

Thank you francophile03. All of the SNCF TGV tickets are Prems.... these two are 2nd class. I also had another reservation for August 13 from Strasbourg to Avignon on TGV ... 1st class .. but I'm assuming since the date is past I can't get those back either.

DB is just regular fare in an ICE train. I know i've read on here somewhere about a phone number ... so trying to locate that.

Thanks again for your help

Sorry katzen, as far as I know you are stuck with the PREM tickets. Before you purchase them there is a note there about being non-refundable, non-changeable.

Hi K,

It is possible to get refunds for some tickets, even after the departure date.

Call SNCF at 011 33 8 92 35 35 39

Try www.euraid.de (they have a US phone number) for the Bahn.de tickets.

Isn't that why they want you to stamp the ticket before you board the train? Proof that you used the ticket?

Two years ago, I brought an unused ticket and used it to purchase a different ticket. They gave me credit.

You don't need to stamp PREM tickets.

Standard French train tickets are valid two months. Prem tickets are valid for a specific train on a specific date - that's why they're cheap.

Thanks Ira!!

I was unable to get any refunds for my travel on the TGV tickets (SNCF) due to the fact they were ordered on-line and were all PREM fares. I wish I had checked the travel insurance box ... lesson learned.

I was able to get a full refund for my ticket on the DB train.

Thanks for all of your help!
