Is Giverny Worth a Visit in March?

My family will be passing by in late March, when Monet's house is still closed. (drat)

Is there anything worth seeing in the village otherwise? Can you get a peek of the grounds from outside that would make a short diversion worthwile?

So far as I can remember (but I wasn't looking at it from the point of view in which you are interested) it's mostly, if not completely, screened from the road.

There is nothing else in the immediate vicinity of particular interest.

Absolutely. It's a pretty village in summer - because all the flowers are out. That apart, the houses are nothing special.

Is it open in October and is it worth a visit at that time of year?

Sorry to highjack this thread...
