Is 5,000.00euros good for 1 week in Paris?
Hello,
I am traveling with my spouse in a week and we have all our airfare, hotel, activities prepaid and wanted to know how much to carry for food, fine dining and spending as well as a VIP car service which is 800euros while we are there. So less the car service we will have 4700euros
At least one meal a day is also prepaid for....

Not sure what you are going to do with the 4700. Lets assume a bunch of coffee stops, musuems and at least one big meal with good wine I guess you could stump up 300E a day, so that might use up 2100.
If you cannot find a use for it I could send you a SAE.

First of all don't take ANY cash w/ you (or very little). Use cash machines,.
if your hotel, some meals and 'activities' , whatever that means, are paid for you are really only talking about a few meals and shopping. Just how much shopping do you plan on doing?
And why on god's green earth are you spending €800 on a car service?

Thank you all for your input.
Activities include river tours, Eiffel tower museums, French Open etc...
The Car service is for take me to dinner late in the night and to my vow renewal...(It's my birthday trip).
Not all in cash but in total and reserve.

Kimmie: Robert and others may be skeptical because you are throwing around some very big numbers to pay for a tiny part of your trip. Since most everything is paid for except a few nice dinners, and this VERY expensive car service, not everyone may be taking you seriously.

I think people were afraid you were going to carry that around with you in cash, or leave it in your hotel room in cash, that's all. So not a good idea, of course.
So let's see, 4700 euros for a week, not including hotel, gives you more than 600 euro a days for spending money and fine dining. No one else can tell you what you need as a budget for buying "stuff", which I imagine is what you are thinking. Do you want to buy a lot of clothes or handbags, maybe expensive, or something like that? Because if you are just talking souvenirs, it would be difficult to even spend 600 euro a day, even dining at top restaurants, if your hotel is paid for.
You really don't need that much, is there something we don't understand about why you would think it would cost that much? Even in nice restaurants for dinner, I wouldn't think you'd usually spend more than 200 euro for dinner for a couple. I'll admit I don't dine in those kind of places, but I presume you aren't going to dine in a Michelin 3* restaurant for dinner every night. I know in more modest, but not cheap, restaurants, you can spend around 50-75 euro for dinner per person.

Kimmie, it's just that is a very large amount of money to spend on a week in Paris. If you are spending that, because you have VIP tickets for the French Open, private tours and dinners at 3 star restaurants every evening, you could very well need 5000 euros.
'Vow renewals' is a very American thing, so I have no idea if this is an expensive thing to do in Paris. If you are doing this at the Ritz and inviting 100 people, then 5000 will not be enough.
But the question as you asked it, if 5000 euros is enough for a week in Paris; of course it is.
