Irish Pottery

WE are traveling in August to South west Ireland and am interested in picking up some Irish pottery. Any suggestions for shops.

Thanks

You could also try Nicolas Mosse. I think the factory is in Kilkenny but you should find it in the various shops in the south west

Nicholas Mosse - Bennetsbridge (we did not stop at the gallery/shop but picked up a few small pieces for mom at various shop, picture frame, bowl)
Stephen Pearce – Shanagarry Village (we picked up a few pieces at his Shannagarry gallery)
Louis Mulcahy - Dingle (really lovely but too large/difficult for us to take home, maybe next time - but we did pick up a wonderful weaving/wall tapestry by his wife)
Jack O’Patsy - Youghal

Stephen Pearce ius available in Meadows and Burns and also in Brown Thomas in Cork city. They are only a few minutes apart from each other and always try to out do each other in price. Also a place in Killarney just on the right side of New street as you go down. Cant remember it's name but you'll see it straight away and they have excellent stuff

The link for Belleek should be www.belleek.ie CU left out an "e". The Belleek factory is not in the southwest but it can be bought all over Ireland.

Even if you do not buy at Louis Mulcahy the huge showroom is well worth a look: http://www.louismulcahy.com/ You can also try your hand at throwing a pot free.

There are little pottery studios all over Ireland and if you keep an eye out will find them in many towns. Each one does unique pieces. The larger shops ususally have pottery from many different studios.

Irish Eyes well spotted about the 'e'
Have a look at www.blarney.ie and also www.airportshopping.ie which are two places that you will be able to purchase.

My favorite was from the Dingle outlet (run by Zac's father) for Annascaul pottery:

Zac Phelan . Annascaul Pottery
Main Street, Annascaul, Co Kerry, Ireland
Tel: 066 9157505

http://www.annascaulpottery.com/home.html

Very unique and beautiful.
