Irish Hotel Choices for Killarney and Adare

I am trying to choose between the following hotels in Killarney.
The Malton and International Hotel Killarney.
They are the same price and both offer breakfast. Parking is not an issue for us.
We are eight adults who like to sit and drink wine (sometimes a lot of wine) after a day of sightseeing and walking through the town where we overnight, so maybe a place we can congregate before dinner.
We are happy with either the hotel’s restaurant, or getting a recommendation for something in town.
Any input for choosing one over the other?

Same question for Adare, with the choices being Dunraven Arms Hotel and Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel.

Thanks for the information.

Personally I opt for the Eviston in Killarney centre. For Adare I really like the Woodlands but its not central where as the Dunraven is, but this centrality is also a good deal more expensive.

There is a range of 3 rooms in the Eviston and I opt for the mid range. Car parking is Limited but the towns main car parks are just round the corner.

I just checked and they don't have availability for the timeframe we will be there. I will keep it in mind for my next trip.

In that case I suppose I (personally) would lean towards the International.

We stayed 2 nights at the International Hotel in October 2011. Pleasant staff. Breakfast was good. The Hotel was easy walking distance to several nice restaurants and pubs. The hotel bar/restaurant had a lively atmosphere and a traditional Irish band both nights. The room was comfortable and the bathroom had both a Jacuzzi tub and a shower. Located right outside the hotel were rides by Jaunty Cars which could be taken to Muckross House or Killarney National Park. The drivers will make a deal. Mike was entertaining (his horse is named silver). The Jaunty Car is worth taking.
As for restaurants, we ate one night at Bricin's, just a few blocks from the Hotel. I remember my buddy, who has been to every continent, saying at the time that it was one of the best dinners he ever had. I think the 4 of us had the Boxty.

Thanks for the information. I will go with the International in Killarney, and Dunraven in Adare. Dunraven has a great price on a bed, breakfast and dinner stay, and they can accommodate our group of 8 at one table for dinner (harder to do than you'd imagine).

Love getting advice from Fodor's, its always the best.

If you want a decent pub in Adare I suggest Aunty Lena's just under 5 minits walk from the Dunraven.
For Killarney I recommend O'Connors although this can get crowded mid season or Tattler Jacks. The Danny Mann in the Eviston does what I call tour bus trad, lots do like it, probably reminds them of their local Irish bar back home?
