Ireland - what's the weather in November?
We're traveling to Ireland in November, November 6-13 to be specific. Anyone know how cold it is that time of year? Just wondering if I'll need the heavy coat or a lined jacket? How many layers I should pack, etc. Thanks!

Nov- avg high in Dublin 52 degrees F, avg low 45 degrees - not real cold never real warm - lots of possibilities of rain...and as they said 'Sunny Spells' Leave the fleece at home but layering is the best i think.
P.S. you can buy any clothes you need there - if you take too much you end up lugging around hefty bags.

I traveled to Ireland in mid-December of '04 and had only two days that I found to be too cold. ( I live in New Orleans which rarely sees a freeze). Layering is a good idea. I remember the days being in the 40's- 50's,but the wind could really make it feel colder. I have read that no place in Ireland is further than 70 miles from the ocean, so this fact has a moderating effect on the temperature. Also the gulf stream enables the south of Ireland to have palms. My favorite towns were Kinsale, Cork, and Dingle and I feel that the Cliffs or Moher are not to be missed. I was most disappointed by how little daylight there is in Ireland in mid-December. It seemed like the sun did not rise until around 8am and it was dark by 5pm. This fact really cuts down on your viewing hours. Nonetheless the scenery is gorgeous and the people are refreshing. Enjoy. Tim

We were in the west of Ireland in mid-November. Days are very short; dark by 4ish. Not that cold temperature-wise, (40s, 50s)but without sun (we had rain and cloudy) it was very chilling. I wore a winter jacket. Not an extremely heavy one, but well-lined, with a hood. It was perfect for the trip.

November can get a lot of fog, however it usually dosn't last all day. Just make sure that you reach your destination before nightfall. At the beginning of Nov this will be about 5pm in the south and gradually reduce to about 4.30pm the further north you go.

Thank you to everyone for the good advice. I was afraid it would be bone chilling cold while we are there. I think I'll invest in a coat with a zip out liner so I can take it out if I get to warm. I was dreading the thoughts of having to travel with a heavy coat. I'm glad that won't be necessary!
