Ireland to Spain Airline Question
Aer Lingus's flight times from Dublin to Barcelona are really not convenient. And with Ryanair we'd lose too much time getting into the city. Does anyone know of another airline with flights between Dublin and Barcelona?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thank you, Padraig! I was hoping you'd see this as I figured you'd know.
Unfortunately, their times aren't any better. Looks like we're stuck with my son and I taking a 6:40 flight out and my husband waiting to take an evening flight. (He has to get his mother and uncle to the airport midday for their flight back to the US.)

Padraig, can I impose on you one more time? When you're flying within the EU, how early do you need to arrive for your flight? I'm hoping we won't need to be at the airport at 4:40 for that 6:40 flight.
BTW, very soon I hope to pull up my thread about my daughter's wedding and update it. As soon as things are a little less in flux....

There is no good general guideline for airports in the EU. One hour before flight time is enough in most cases. But local advice is best.
The airport site at http://www.barcelona-airport.com/ offers no help.

Check-in deadline are set by the airlines, not the airport.

In case the link does not work, go to aerlingus.com , "Services & FF", "Airport Services", "Check-in times".
The recommended 2.5 hrs for Europe routes are a bit nuts. I never got there more than 1.5 hrs before departure, usually 1 hr.
You can also familiarize yourself with the self-service check in machines on that website ("FastPass"
.
When you book your flight to Spain, you will be asked to enter your passport data. Make sure that you get that part done properly.

Thanks, Cowboy. I've actually flown Aer Lingus within Europe before (to Paris two years ago). But that was a flight much later in the day when getting there early wasn't a problem. Getting there two and a half hours before a 6:40AM flight...well, that's a problem!
Thanks again, Padraig. Getting there a little more than an hour before sounds much more reasonable!
