You probably won't get a Mercedes B-class. Usually you rent a certain class of cars and the rental agencies display an example. They tend to display the fancy cars while they usually give you other makes which fit into the same class.
The Mercedes B-class is a compact car. It has 5 seats, however only 4 pesons sit comfortably. The trunk is medium-sized. For 2 persons a good option; for 4 persons, the trunk is too small. Mileage simply depends on the size of the car, so it will be pretty good in this class. Mileage is better for Diesel cars, and diesel is cheaper in most European countries. When taking over the car ask if they have a diesel in the class which you have booked.

Hi portia12,
Like traveller said, you can't be guaranteed a B-Class. However, I beg to differ with his opinion about its capacity. My husband and I had a diesel B-Class for about a year while we were living in Stuttgart, and found it to be a great all-around car. Because it is a sort of cross between a hatchback and a minivan, it has much more headroom and luggage room than an equivalent-sized sedan. We found it quite comfortable for 4 passengers with luggage, and we took it on a long driving trip to Switzerland and France with my parents. The diesel gets great mileage as well.
