Ireland hotels & B&B

We are planning a trip to Ireland, but seem to run into very expensive hotels in Dublin. Are hotels in general expensive in Dublin or are we looking at expensive places. Any help would be appreicated.
thanks

Dublin has had a building boom in hotels over the past few years and rates are actually under pressure.Try www.jurysdoyle.com for occasional bargains in their wide range of hotels in Ireland and UK.

We are going to Ireland soon too and found the same thing about hotels--way too expensive for our blood. B&Bs are way cheaper and I've heard are a great way to get to know the locals. We prefer a quiter location than city center, so we are staying at a B&B in Howth for 68 euros for the 4 of us. Sounds like a nice place--we'll see...

Thanks for the info. Sandy28, the place you mention sounds like a steal, but I wonder how far it is from the city centre. We were hoping to find a place in the centre so we could around w/o a car. I will be looking at the other sites and get back.

Check with Trinity College. During summer they rent the student dorm rooms to travelers pretty cheap.

Howth is too far in my opinion as you will spend lot of time travelling. Wojazz is right I still think that rate is dodgy as well.

Trinity college is a fantastic location as well there is a small place called Trinity Lodge beside the college that is lovely and on a quiet street but just a few streets from Grafton street and all the fun things to do. Try www.trinitylodge.ie
