We stayed at the Brooks Hotel in Dublin. It is an excellent hotel in a great location not too far from Grafton Street. I checked out the prices on Tripadvisor for you and it seems to be in your pricerange. We didn;t have breakfast there as we would find cafes near the hotel. I was very happy in Dublin and it is wonderful to walk all over the city. If you are a Theater fan go see a play at the Abbey. I think you will enjoy it there.

We also stayed at the Brooks Hotel (www.brookshotel.ie) and were very pleased with it. Not only is the hotel located within easy walking distance to Grafton Street, but also to the Temple Bar area and Trinity College. And the breakfast buffet is good. I personally loved Dublin and would suggest you stay 2 days. It really does not have a "big city" feel. It is after all one of the smaller European capitals and it's an easy & fun city to walk around in.

Thanks you --we happily have reservations at The Brooks Hotel, for 2 nights. Now the only city I still need to find lodging for is Kenmare. (Do we dare to just "show up" without reservations?) Although I like the Sallyport, it is cash only. Any other suggestions? The Park and Sheen Falls are just too expensive.

I think you will be very happy at the Brooks.
We stayed at Virginia's Guesthouse in Kenmare. It is a B&B above a restaurant called Mulcahy's. The owners Neil and Noreen do not live there however, they truly were the best hosts we encountered on our two week trip recently. This will not be your charming B&B with lovely views however, the room will be a nice size, clean, excellent breakfast, with incredibly informative hosts (Neil) and steps away to the heart of town. We had dinner at Mulcahy's and loved it. Regarding paying cash I suggest you ask beforehand whether or not they accept credit cards as several places will not--Virginias accepts only cash. If you need any help in Dublin--restaurants, walking tour let me know. The Brooks is right near the Tourist Office where you can get tickets for the Pub crawl.

We stayed at the Waters Edge B&B in Kenmare. It was very quiet with a great breakfast. We were only there for one night, but found it quite comfortable and relaxing with a nice view of the lake. Enjoy your trip to Ireland!
