Ireland fishing?
The last few "big" trips have all been my planning and my choice of destination. I told DH that he should choose the next one, knowing that he would pick a fishing destination. That is fine with me- we both enjoy it. To my surprise, he said he wanted to go to Ireland and maybe try some fishing while we were there. We have been to Ireland twice and would really like to go north to Donegal this time.
Does anyone have suggestions/comments on fishing in Ireland? Any great websites or links? Thanks in advance!

You might have better luck posting your question(s) over at the Fly Fisherman Magazine web site. They have a number of bulletin boards and a travel center, as well as a lot of knowledgeable and, in some cased well-traveled, fishermen.

I'm not too familiar with fishing in Donegal - perhaps someone else knows about that. Some info. is available here:

but IMHO Donegal is not famous for its fishing. A little further south is the river the Moy, Lough Conn and Cullin - all good for trout and salmon. One of the most picture-perfect spots must be Doo Lough and the Erriff River both accessible from Leenane in north Co. Galway. http://www.delphi-salmon.com/ or

My aunt and uncle fished in Ireland and my recollection is that they used the traditional long rods for the fly fishing. It might be cool to explore at least giving the traditional method a try. Orvis runs some trips abroad and you could also look at Frontiers International Travel, which places people in fishing locations around the world. Another resource is Gourmet Fly (on the web).
