Hello all! We leave for Ireland in just over two weeks, and are in need of a B&B for one night near Killarney. Only requirements are that the place is clean, and on the cheaper side (under $90).

We will be arriving in Shannon airport and driving to Killarney, where we'll see Van Morrison's concert that evening (hence the reason for our one night stay). We're fine with staying a little bit outside the city, but not too far as we'll be driving home after the concert.

Stayed at Wuthering Heights in 2003 and place was dirty, moldy. Bedroom was dingy and uncomfortably hot. Never saw the proprieter just her teenage niece. Not a good experience.

The Rathmore House (www.rathmorehousekly.com) gets a very favorable review in my 2003 edition of the Lonely Planet Ireland guidebook.

We stayed at the Carraglea House just about 2 miles outside of the town proper. It was reviewed by someone on this board last year to be an inexpensive place to stay. We had booked a B&B, but when we saw it, we just paid the lady for the two nights that we were booked and made up some feeble excuse and found the Carraglea House. We were pleased with it. We had a large room,sitting room and a nice size bath in the carriage house. It is a large yellow house set back from the road by a long driveway.

I was curious so I looked up duncmom1's B&B. The correct spelling is Carriglea House and the URL is www.carrigleahouse.com. The Web site description makes it sound very attractive.

Thanks so much! Carriglea House has a room available, so we may book that one. We are planning to explore Killarney National Park during the day, so the location would be great.

Muckross Lodge also has availability- any experiences with that one?
