internet olive oil purchasing?

Recently was given an incredible bottle of Italian olive oil...ohmygod - what heaven! Do any of you order your olive oil directly from Italy and if so, where and how wonderful is it?!?!?!

Olive,
The best source I've found for olive oils is www.zingermans.com

They carry olive oils from all over the world. The web site also has a toll-free phone number listed & if you phone, they are very knowledgeable about what is somewhat lemony, or peppery or "green" or any other taste that may enter the oil.
best Wishes,
BC

I have never purchased directly from Italy, but I do buy wonderful artisanal oils from different regions from A.G> Ferrari . Also Try Balducci's or Dean and deluca. Cooks Illus. just did an article comparing olive oils and one of their top picks was DaVinci which can be purchased in just about any grocery. But for something extraordinary try one of Ferrari's .

http://www.agferrari.com/cgi-bin/agferrari.storefront

As I'm sure you know, the very best Olive Oil comes from Lucca - you'll find some links via my site, www.mulinodellopera.com , by clicking "useful sites"..........Tom Cruise buys his from Fattoria Maionchi(just down the road from me and they have their own website, try via Strada dell Vino linked from www.lunet.it) and they mail but apart from that, you'll find most of 'our' local wineries will supply and they can all be found via winkling through on the above links. Happy Hunting!

Zingerman's is the BEST for all sorts of foodstuffs -- some of their manchego cheese & those spanish almonds & aaaaahhh! Also, their sour cream coffeecake is SOOOO good!

You must check out the olive oil from Pornanino's in Chianti. It is unbelievably good, no chemicals and not mechanically produced. They ship to U.S. and Canada. This is the absolute best olive oil I have ever tasted.
www.oliveoil.chiantionline.com
