Interlaken Hotel Stella??
Two senior citzens, first time in Switzerland. We have reservations at the Stella for 5 nights in August for 300.00 per night. We have some day trips planned and choose Interlaken for convenience. We would like to know if anyone can recommend another hotel that would cost a little less. Thanks

We are not senior citizens, but not schoolage kids either. We stayed at the Sunny Days B&B in Interlaken. Much cheaper than your hotel, although I don't know what it is now (we went 4 years ago).
Simple place and rooms, but clean and with private bathroom facilities, TV in the room, and breakfast included. Very nice people run this establishment. It's on a side street.

Hello suettat,
Would you consider staying at a chain hotel? If so, you may like the Best Western Hotel Bernerhof.
We stayed there several years ago and found it quite comfortable, and our rate included a lovely Swiss breakfast.
The Best Westerns also offer a 10% reduction in price for senior citizens. As you did not give dates, I just tried 5 nights beginning the 16th, and I came up with a rate of 216 CHF/night.
Did you know there are two train stations in Interlaken? East and West or something like that. The trains that depart for the excursions up to Grindelwald (if you're going that way to maybe go to Jungfraujoch?), it would depart from the far station from the Bernerhof.
It is only, however, a 10-minute walk to that station, and a very pleasant walk past all the lovely gift shops!
Happy travels!
