Tragic, indeed, and very rare. Switzerland's transportation networks are among the finest in the world. There are many Fodorites who know Switzerland MUCH better than I and so can speak to your concerns much more clearly. Watch the thread on the derailment, and if you feel the need, add another post to this thread -- but don't direct your comment to a specific person so it is clear that you are open to comments from everyone. Switzerland is a wonderful and the Alps are magnificent; I'm sure you will have a marvelous time.
