Inexpensive place in Cinque Terre
My family (wife and two kids) need a place to stay for 1 night,B&B or hotel in the area. We would like to park the car for two days and explore Cinque Terre. Less than 150 Euros would be nice.

I love Hotel Villa Steno in the old town of Monterosso. There is a parking lot.
Here is my review from my most recent stay (May 2005). We paid 125€ cash I believe (double room). I know they have at least one quad room available. This place books up early so contact them ASAP if you want to get a room
HOTEL REVIEW: Review of Hotel Villa Steno
We stayed at the Hotel Villa Steno in the old town of Monterosso for 3 nights. We stayed in Room 4 again as we had requested when we made our reservations. It is a large room with a comfortable double bed and an AMAZING view over the "old town" of Monterosso and the Med. Sea.
The terrace has a table and chairs and window boxes full of flowers. It overlooks the hotel's garden with flowers and fruit trees. The hotel is situated up the hill which makes it very quiet (we slept with our windows open and were never disturbed by any noise). It is an uphill walk (12-15 minutes) to the hotel so travellers with a lot of heavy luggage might want to take a taxi. There was a TV and phone in our room, and our bathroom had a hairdryer built in. The air conditioner is turned on through a remote and it worked very well and was very quiet.
There is high speed internet access available in the lobby (3 euros for 30 minutes) and the hotel offers a laundry service (13 euros for wash and dry). We took advantage of this to clean all of our dirty clothes from our adventures in southern Italy (as well as those clothing items unfortunate enough to have been in the runaway suitcase mentioned above).
There is a small "library" of books in several languages for guests to borrow. You can also rent a beach towel for the duration of your stay for 3 euros. Since buying a beach towel will run you 15€, this is a great option if you don't want to lug a towel around in your luggage.
Carla and Matteo (owners) make every effort to make their guests comfortable and feel welcome. They speak excellent English. When we arrived we were given a very helpful information packet about the hotel and the Cinque Terre region. We arrived about 8:30am on May 21 after an overnight train on which we got very little sleep (several hours before standard check-in time). They let us check-in that early and had our room cleaned up and ready for us in just a few minutes. We were also able to eat breakfast. We really appreciated this wonderful service since we were so exhausted and hungry upon arrival.
Things we noticed since our last stay: The hotel has been re-painted and it looks great. Mini-refrigerators have also been added to every room. We found a small grocery store close to the hotel and used the fridge to keep sodas and wine cold.

I second the recommendation of the Villa Steno, and agree with everything TexasAggie said about the lovely setting, wonderful views and generous hospitality of Carla and Matteo. One of my favorite hotels ever.

Totally a non-Fodor's way to do it, but, oh 5 or more years ago, two girlfriends and I stayed in Corniglia for a long weekend. Had to call every place in our guidebook because we hadn't made reservations and it was a holiday weekend.
We ended up renting from the Spora family. We thought we were getting a room (language barrier!) but it was more like an apartment. Bunkbeds and kitchenette w/small living room downstairs and a loft with two twins upstairs.
At that time we paid whatever the equivalent of $75 was in lire. I don't know what things are going for nowadays.
If you're willing to take a chance, you could try calling or faxing one of the places with no website on http://www.cinqueterre.com/
Good luck!
