Inexpensive Inns just outside Paris

Looking for an inexpensive Inn for just myself which is quiet/comfortable/clean doesn't necessarily have to be modern up to 25-30 miles outside Paris. Will they run about the same cost as a 3-star Paris Hotel ($80-$85/night)?

some great deals can be had in ETAP hotels that are on the periphery of central Paris - usually near a metro stop

though not always in the spiffiest part of Paris they are modern and comfortable enough

I wouldn't consider an ETAP to be an inn, but generally hotels outside Paris may be a bit cheaper (depending where they are, of course). You cannot get a 3* hotel in Paris for US$80.

This isn't 30 miles, but is on the train route, so you could consider Auvers-sur-Oise. It's a small village (although tourists vist for Van Gogh fame) and only has a few modest B&Bs/inns. Their website lists them. Go to www.auvers-sur-oise.com, then hebergement.

They have some B&Bs (chambres d'hote) and one Logis de France hotel.

That is a good website to check, actually, the Logis de France website.

You see the above hotel is already 98 euros, but you may not need anything that nice. I think it's a 3*, hard to tell (it's a 3 chimney Logis de France, which is a nice one).

well, that was just one idea, there are zillions of places within 30 miles of Paris.

I guess i misunderstood the OP's question

i thought by an 'inn' he/she was just talking about a hotel that would give cheaper accommodations than in Paris itself. But if it's a romantic small inn that's something different and ETAP is not a charming B&B in an old house but a modern comfortable enough hotel somewhat similar to American Red Roof Inns i'd say

Staying way out in say Auvers, etc. would then entail substantial commuting costs of course.

A question would be, are you staying outside to save money and are planning to commute in every day, or are you looking for a place to stay near Paris without going into the city?
