In October will I need reservations for the Borghese?

My hotel says reservations are not necessary. Should I go ahead and get them. It is a big week-end in Rome.

Thanks

Diane

I'd go ahead , when we were there in Feb we absolutley needed them , they only allow 200 (I think) in at any one time. You can book them online and pick up and pay for them 30 minutes before your alloted time.

I got into the Borghese in August with 5 people without reservations. It shouldn't be a problem.

I'm going to Rome in October and I got reservations for the Borghese. Better to spend a few minutes now and get the reservations than be disappointed when you get there.

"Reservations required; call 06/328101 or 06/842-4160; although a limited number of tickets are sometimes available at the door."

We were in Rome in late October 2002 and definitely needed reservations for the Villa Borghese.

You're told to arrive 30 minutes prior to your reservation time. Believe them. The check-in process is a little chaotic, and, because purses and bags of any kind are not allowed in the galleries, the coat check is also a little chaotic. Both check-in and coat check function in a relatively small space, so the lines can overlap/intertwine, adding to the confusion.

You're only allowed two hours inside the galleries, so you don't want to waste any time just getting through the bureaucracy.
