If you were dreaming...

It's Friday, let's get moving.

If you could be anywhere in Italy right now, where would it be and why, and what would you be doing?

Mine is sitting on our terrace in CT with a lovely bottle of wine and my DH surrounded by those glorious lemon trees and looking out at the sea.

There's a pizza place in Florence with just four tables and one guy who does everything (waiter, cook, busboy, cash register). It's the best pizza I've ever had. Would love to have some right now... and then a gelato cone (riso).

(kinda) joke answer: flirting with the cute waiter at Ostaria del Nerone in Roma.

serious answer: Having wine in the cafe in Piazza San Salvatore in Lauro, Roma.

But motor city and althom, I like your ideas too.

Since it would be almost mid-night, I would be sitting on my veranda overlooking Positano. The moonlight and the lights of the town would be beguiling me as I sip prosecco and smooch with S.

Shhhhh, don't wake me up......

Well, since it's midnight in Italy right now....sleeping? Ha! Just kidding.

I would like to be at Bancogiro in Venice enjoying a beautiful view of the Grand Canal with the occassional lone gondola going by, whilst sipping a grappa with my wonderful husband and admiring the beauty and tranquility that is Venezia late at night.

I've got two:

1. Sitting in the salon of Caffe Poliziano in Montepulciano, sipping an espresso, looking at nothing but miles and miles and miles of Tuscany.

(In fact, just the thought of a caffe macchiato at Caffe Poliziano is making me drool.)

2. Sitting in the northeast corner room on the third floor of the Hotel Dania in Sorrento, looking out over the Bay of Naples out of one window and Mt. Vesuvius out the other. I'd be doing nothing but just sitting there and admiring the scenery, maybe with the tune of "Torna Surriento" running through my head.

I'd like some fresh-squeezed orange juice from Naples.

I'd be gazing at Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper inside the Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan!

OR

I'd be discovering Vinci.

OR

Meandering about Florence!
