I would suggest Provence, by Lawrence Durrell, if it is still in print or you can get it used. He is a beautiful writer, I just loved that book.

I also liked Paris in the Fifties by Stanley Karnow, which is more a series of essays, as I recall -- I think they were originally newspaper or magazine articles.

Since these are my favorite books, I am checking all of the titles to see if I missed any.

As a novel, I even liked "Meet me in Venice" by Elizabeth Adler. Yes, it is a novel and the title is Venice, but it mostly takes place in Paris and the characters go to many of the places we have been.

Also just read "A Month in Paris" by Candace Bacon, 2009.

Wow, thank you, thank you all for the suggestions. Looks like my library will grow. I posted my titles about three months ago, but never received so many suggestions. Appreciate it, and keep them coming.

Here is a first-hand account, a bit more serious but excellent read, Wine and War: The French, the Nazis, and the Battle for France's Greatest Treasure.
