Spent 3 wks driving around Italy in 98 then 3 wks driving around Spain in 99. Altho both are beautiful and nice, we much preferred Italy. Every city had world class bldgs, every place had unforgettable food. The only city I rememberd most of Spain was Barcelona tho we also liked Ronda.Cant comment abt France as I have only been to Paris.

Hey Deputy Ass, Obviously You Have Never Been To Either Spain Or Morocco Or You Would Know That They Are Nothing Alike. Spain Is A Beautiful, Vibrant & Exotic Country With Kind People. It Is A Perfect Holiday Destination. I Would Recommend A Side Trip To Portugal Instead Of Morocco.

Karen, Spain & Portugal would be a better choice if possible. I recently did a tour of these two wonderful countries, and had a spectacular time. Spain is beautiful. Another option is Spain & France.

We just did Spain and Italy--with an overnight train through southern France. Each has its benefits--Spain lends itself more readily to organized travel--the trains run on time while in Italy schedules don't mean anything. However, we found the food in Italy to be simply incredible--you can find excellent affordable food in Spain too but not as consistently as in Italy.

22 answers in 14 hours. Not bad. I'm betting that Karen has no idea how fast this forum moves, and probably hasn't come back to read any of these!
Well... my fellow Fedorites helped me with my fabulous trip to Greece/Turkey in 2000 and I have no reason to believe you would fail me now. I am quite surprised at the overwhelming response of "Italy".

I plan to rethink Italy. I admit it has typically scared me off because I hear it is hard on the pockbook. But where there is a will there is a way!!

I still need to see Spain one day... maybe as a France/Spain combo.

Thanks AGAIN!!!!

When would you be traveling there? France can get rainy and chilly by mid-October, while Italy can still have beautiful weather. I haven't been to Spain in the fall. Morocco had ideal weather when I went there in late November (did Marrakesh, Meknès and Fez for 12 days), and came back to Paris to hit an ice storm the next day.
