I didn't like Venice at all, by the way.

Rome. So much history, art and beauty wrapped into one fabulous city.

Venice, definitely. So magical and unique, and definitely a place to go with your sig other.

Rome is a close runner up though. I LOVED Rome, but there's just something about Venice...

I'm convinced that those who suggest Venice have never been to Bellagio

Venice is dirty and very difficult to get around. The maps don't help you find your way either.

Another vote for Venice.

But then, my taste may not be the norm (I preferred Varenna over Bellagio, and Florence over Rome).

I also prefer Florence over Rome, and Venice over all.

Without hesitation, it would be Venice! I thought Rome was great and Tuscany lovely but once I visited Venice, the spell was cast. This year I am looking forward to both a spring and a fall visit and I can't wait!

Tuscany. (Although that's sort of cheating since it includes Florence and smaller villages.)

Rome definitely for my "major city" but somehow Ortigia, Sicily has cast a spell on me for the "smaller city" category.
