Ideas on a nice hotel in Wengen, Switzerland
I understand Wengen is a beautiful place and would like suggestions on some lovely hotels there~~~ with great views, excellent food, good service, and nice rooms. Good location would be an asset also. Thanks!

Hi,
It's been a while, but we stayed at the Hotel Eiger in Wengen. Excellent location... right around the corner from the small train station.Very nice place, nice rooms and just the most amazing views from the room balcony!

Wengen is our favorite place in Switzerland!

We loved our stay at the Alpenrose in June 2006.

The views, service and food were excellent. It is a short downhill stroll from the main village (but a bit of a climb - not too long) back up.
Good luck and happy travels.

Hi mari5,
Another one for the Alpenrose. In addition to the above notes, I'll add that the hosts/owners are really wonderful! If you go there, be sure to take a look at the photo album of their family history in the hotel business.
Have fun!

Hi -- your question couldn't come at a better time, since we just returned from 8 days at the Caprice Hotel in Wengen, and could not have asked for better accommodations in any hotel, or any better food and service in the restaurant.
We had a wonderful room that looked out to the Jungfrau, and could hear cowbells ringing nearby from the deck. Everything, from meeting our host Christian Aubert, our wonderful room, the food -- to the 46 trains and 10 gondolas, the mountains, the hiking, everything was perfect. Even walking in the rain and fog to the symphony of cowbells was a never-to-be-forgotten experience. Each morning started with a scrumptious breakfast -- pastries, yogurt, meats and cheeses, eggs with bacon, grilled tomatoes or chanterelle mushrooms. Our host was a wonderful tour director, suggesting adventures for us each day. We experienced the Tummmelbach Falls, where the ice blue-gray waters from glaciers off the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains converge. While the icy and snow-covered Eiger Trail was a bit scary, it was an experience we will never forget. Neither will we forget the trips via cog rail through tunnels, and gondolas, to the Jungfraujoch and Sphinx, the Schilthorn with its 360 degree view, Schynige Platte with its frozen flowers, lunch on the deck at Kleine Scheidegg as we watched a snow slide down the side of the Jungfrau, or the 30-minute gondola ride down to Grund. We loved the village of Wengen, the cheese shops and bakery, and of course, the quaint cog rail trains. Our dinners at the Caprice were to die for, served by friendly and capable waiters and waitresses from Thailand, Germany and Hong Kong. Every night the French chef delighted us with wonderful combinations of food accompanied by unusual combinations of potatoes, vegetables and desserts. The wine and champagne selections were out of this world. Our stay at the Caprice Hotel in Wengen was a delight, and we highly recommend it for everything you want in Switzerland!

Wengen is gorgeous! However, when are you plannning to travel? We just returned from the Berner Oberland and stayed in Grindelwald instead of Wengen because most of the hotels there are now closed until mid December.
