Ideas for DH Birthday surprise trip?

Hello all - I'm in early planning stages for an 8 day surprise trip for DH's birthday next April. I'm trying to decide between Prague/Berlin or Budapest/Vienna. We've been to most other areas of Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands on previous trips over the years. He's done a long weekend in Prague and said it was magical. I overnighted in Vienna in the pouring rain so can't really speak to that as a destination. Any ideas out there? We're both intrepid travellers, in our 50's, etc. Thanks!

We visited Vienna last month for three days, which was not long enough to explore this gorgeous city. We stayed at the lovely Kaiserin Elisabeth which is very well located and newly renovated. The rest of our itinerary included some of the countries that you have already been to so can't help you with that.

thanks - its looking like Ireland now - asked him for a few ideas so he'd be happy and still surprised. He came up with ireland, greece, cabo or hawaii. Not being sun folks anymore, I'm leaning towards Ireland. I'll still see Vienna, Prague and Budapest...just not this trip!

Well - you don;t need to be intrepid in any of those destinnations - they all have very well-developed tourist infrastructures.

I too find Prague magical - and I would do either Prague/Berlin or Prague/Budapest. (Vienna is fine - but a little triste I think.)
