Used them in April, 2002 because I wanted to set foot in Iceland. I didn't notice that the seats were any different than other airlines; I liked the fact that there were only 3 seats across. We had shared movie screens, not individual ones on the seats. I don't remember the food so guess that tells you. Enjoyed the hour break in the airport after flying the Atlantic, and since you go thru customs at Iceland, you dont' repeat it at Paris (if that's where you are headed). We were more than pleased with the price as compared to others. Get on their e:mail list and "twofers" are often offered. What I most remember is the daytime flight for an hour or more over Greenland; what a truly awesome view.

The coach class seating is typical 3-3, so I don't think one could characterize it as any tighter than coach seating in in other airlines with the exception of those that offer premium coach (with greater seat pitch). We found them to be plenty adequate and the flight to Iceland from North America is shorter than it is to mainland Europe. From Keflavik, I believe it would be around 2.5 to other European cities.

We would fly them again without hesitation, if it fit our plans. They often offer great values. You can sign up for their "Lucky Fares Club" on their site and you will receive regular e-mails of their many specials.

Flew Icelandair earlier this year out of BWI-great on-time service, but I must agree that the seats were a bit tight (kinda like flying Southwest across the Atlantic). Food was so-so, but then again, that's my opinion of all airline food. Very efficient in their connections (we continued on to Oslo). Wouldn't hesitate to fly them again should we be going in their direction.
