You might be surprised to hear, but Icelandair (www.icelandair.com) of all airlines, is offering some terrific flight specials to Europe. They have two promotions for flights from the U.S. to Europe going on now: "Share the Air" from $214 RT pp based on two people traveling (cities include London, Paris, Stockholm, Frankfurt); and a new summer service to Munich and Berlin from $564 RT pp.

The "Share the Air" promotion is valid for travel through March 15, 2004, while the summer service flights are valid June 21-September 7, 2004.

Iceland Air often ahve competetive prices for travel between the UK and the US.

The only downside is they will always split the journey in Iceland for a few hours. It's ideal however if you want to stay in Iceland for a few days on the way to/from the US.

We love in the midwest and travel from Minneapolis. Personally I love the split flight. You get off and walk around for 45 minutes and get back on the plane. It really seems to nicely split up the time. WE've used them lots of times and thy are one of my favorite airlines.

I also like the split flight. It beats 8 straight hours in coach. If it's an overnight, then bring a pocket alarm clock. Those 2 hours at Reykjavik are a great chance to sleep (I am NEVER able to sleep on a plane).

My friend just did a trip to Iceland and loved it! She told me that you can do a few days layover when flying Icelandair and check out Reykovik (sp). I think it sounds like a great deal.

We are actually flying Icelandair, as well: and taking advantage of the one night stayover in Reykjavik to check out the city a little bit. We purchased Icelandair Holiday Vouchers and we're using them to fly into Reykjavik and onward to Frankfurt, and then fly back to Reykjavik and eventually back to Minneapolis via Berlin. Was almost impossible to set up with dates that gave us adequate time, but we eventually got it to work. Originally wanted to fly into Munich and out of Berlin, but we've made do with Frankfurt.

Icelandair gets nothing but praise from my family. Last year my grandparents used the vouchers to go to Scotland, flying into Glasgow and out of London. They also enjoyed the breathing and stretching time at Keflavik.

best part is, you don't have to go through intense passport lines once you get into the other Shengen states: and in Iceland a U.S. passport is very quickly looked at and your allowed on through.

Im so excited, will be in Reykjavik in 19 days!

Icelandair offers deals like this several times a year and has done so for many years now. They are an excellent airline- I spent one week in Iceland a couple of months ago and enjoyed the flights. Definitely would fly with them again.
