I've never try this - my recommendation is to call the manufacturer of your cd player, either in the US or and English office of the company. Good luck!

Just bring a lot of batteries and leave the convertor at home!

Travel tips:
http://members.aol.com/ajaynejr/travel.htm
Most converters convert wattage fine, but UK currency also runs on a different cycles per second (it's 60 cycles per second in the USA, but 50 in the UK). So, if your CD player is actually running off the wall current, it may not work correctly. It won't fry though, if your converter changes the 220volt UK current into 110volt current.

Also, if you are tempted to buy CD in the UK, think twice...they use a different format.

have a good trip

I agree with Allan J. just bring batteries. Then you do not have to worry about possibly ruining your CD player. Have a nice trip!

Allan, please stop this - it is really annoying! We do not need to see four-year-old posts again - if we want them we will look for them! Particularly irrelevant ones like this!

Actually, Alan, I thought you made a good point! If this guy is so panicked and terrified at the thought of his CD exploding then why not invest in batteries!?!.

Oh and I just absolutely loved the idea that the UK 'currency' was on a different cycle to USA. Maybe thats why I can never quite work out those dastardly exchange rates. At least we now have 100 pence to the pound - I am not sure how you worked out curents and volts when we had pounds shillings and pence!

David, I've purchased many CDs at Tower Records in Piccadilly Square, and all of them have worked on both CD players that I have. I've never had a problem.

The format is different for VHS videos though.

I'm just curious if trey still has the same cd player he had over 4 years ago when he asked this question.

I wonder how large the CD player was if he needed a 1600 watt converter; that's what you use for a hair dryer.
