Hvar

Is a car needed in Hvar? We could just take the ferry from either Split or Dubrovnik if a car is not needed.

I would not bring a car. Just take the ferry, it is a great experience.

The harbourside centre of Hvar town is closed to cars. Most ferries go to the port near Stari Grad, and there are connecting buses (and taxis) to and from Hvar town. Some ferries from Split go to Hvar town.

A car is not necessary, and the ferry will feel like a mini-cruise along a magnificent coastline. Some wonderful Hvar restaurant ideas from Fodorites are worth searching out.We planned our entire trip to Croatia based on suggestions from this most extraordinary forum, and gave thanks for Fodorites every day!!!!What a gift you all are.
